In a civil society, wisdom is the key to discernment and knowledge of the truth.  Jesus said he is the truth in John 14:6 and in John 8:32, "and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free".  Most people are slaves to this world, but Proverbs 1:7 tells us "the fear or reverence of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, fools despise wisdom and instruction".    Scripture declares that God alone is wise and discerning, and that human wisdom is often unable or unwilling to understand his ways.

 God’s wisdom is expressed in both creation and redemption.  Biblical wisdom refers to practical skills associated with understanding and living a successful life.   As Christians we must learn to discern that which is secular and divine.
